As part of the Melton Jujitsu club, we also hold a separate lesson where we teach basic Japanese sword (Katana) techniques - this is called Iaido when practiced separately from Jujitsu
We show how to hold and carry a sword correctly, the stances to effect a move, the different cuts used by the Samurai as well as a number of kata (example moves) to master
We start of with a wooden bokken (training sword), then move onto a bokken with a Saya (sleeve) and then onto a real Katana.
We provide all of the weapons for you to use, but once you get into it, we’re sure you’ll want to purchase your own.
Safety is our priority, especially when using the Katana
Please come along to watch, or why not have a free taster lesson, it’s great fun.
