Midlands Combat Sports (MCS) Academy is for the younger generations among us, and is designed to prepare them for a safe and streetwise journey into adulthood, as-well as aiding in the process to develop them as respectable and responsible people.

At the Cubs Academy we welcome male and female students of the ages 5 to 11yrs. Students will be placed onto a pathway of learning which coincides with their natural biological & physical development. Learning takes place in the form of a structured combined process which includes lessons in Self Defence, Wrestling/Grappling, Russian Sambo, Lethwei Lite, Boxing, and Thai Boxing.

Students will learn different elements of each of the martial arts/sports that form the curriculum on a weekly basis. For example. One week they may learn how to defend themselves against someone that grabs hold of them in the street, the following week they may learn how to avoid a conflict situation, other weeks they will be punching and kicking pads, or, learning how to throw, submit, or restrain someone using good controlled technique.

During their time with the academy they will be expected to try to improve their knowledge each week, and in turn will be rewarded through periodic gradings. They will also be able to achieve weekly, monthly, and yearly awards. Competitions, seminars, and inter-club trips will be available for the students, but they are not compulsory as part of their membership and learning pathway.

All students will be encouraged to take part in partner and group oriented games, exercises, technique practice, and other interactive and inclusive learning processes, which assists in building their confidence and ability to interact with others. Students will also take part in physical exercise activity such as running, stretching, tumbling, rolling, lifting-pushing-throwing students of a similar size and weight, and punching & kicking pads.

Once a student turns 12yrs old they will automatically be entered onto the Cadets (12 - 16yrs) programme and transition into learning the advanced syllabus.

Academy membership is subject to students committing to abide by the academy rules and values at all times.
